Cash registers are ringing in Utica shale play country, contributing to double-digit increases in sales tax revenue in the seven counties in eastern Ohio thatĀ top the statein the number of Utica shale drilling permits, according to a new analysis by Energy in Depth Ohio, anĀ oil and gas trade group.

Sales tax revenue in 2012 was up by as much as a third in one county compared with the prior year and more than 10 percent in the other six.
